Pet dental care is essential to every dog’s and cat’s health and wellbeing. Just like humans, pets’ teeth and gums need care. Left unattended, your pet can develop problems that are painful and harmful to their general health, such as periodontal disease, tooth decay, cavities, abscesses, tooth loss, and more.
Your pet’s dental health routine should include a combination of at-home care and professional dental exams and cleanings. With Advanced Mobile Vet Care, professional pet dentistry has never been more convenient. Our mobile clinic is fully equipped to bring dental care to patients across Orange County.

Signs of Periodontal Disease and Other Oral Health Problems

We recommend scheduling a dental exam for your cat or dog if you notice any of the following signs or symptoms:
During each pet’s wellness exam, Dr. Stryker examines her patient’s teeth and gums, looking for signs of oral health concerns. Based on the state of your pet’s teeth and gums, she might recommend scheduling a pet dental appointment.

What to Expect During a Pet Dental Exam

Prior to your pet’s dental appointment, our veterinarian will discuss your pet’s health and the steps to be taken during the dental exam with you. Since pet dental cleanings are performed under general anesthesia, we’ll likely recommend running a blood panel to ensure your pet is healthy enough to undergo the procedure.
During your pet’s exam and cleaning, we will scale and polish your pet’s teeth to remove any plaque and tartar buildup, in addition to carrying out any necessary tooth extractions. We will also visually examine your pet’s teeth and gums, looking for potential signs of decay or other concerns. If needed, we might take dental x-rays, which allow our veterinarian to detect problems that could be occurring inside your pet’s teeth or below the gumline.
Following your pet’s exam, we’ll provide you with instructions for aftercare, which will vary depending on the extent of your pet’s appointment.
